Cutting Corners Cuts Sales

Writing a book is a significant piece of work so it’s understandable that authors look for ways to get the job finished sooner rather than later. However, some corner cutting has unfortunate consequences.

If you want your book to be worthy of you and to have the quality that will attract readers and generate sales then avoid the corner cuts that happen when you skip on the following

Make sure you

  • Re-read your draft multiple times – ideally checking for different issues each time including: typographical errors, grammar, references, continuity, numbering and clarity.
  • Complete proper copy editing – that is checking the book for readability, grammar, clarity etc and making necessary changes.
  • Get pre-publication reviews and then take on board and address what they say – however much extra work it takes.
  • Proper proof reading by a competent person.
