Author support documents

This page is provided for authors.

If you are reading this page you are either on the way to publishing your book with The Endless Bookcase or you have already published at least one book with us. Either way, our aim is to provide you with help and support to maximise your success as an author.

We are building a library of resources for our authors and the areas we are developing material on are:

  • Help with preparing documents – both technical and editorial.
  • Help with promotional material.
  • Advice and guidance on how to leverage maximum publicity for your book before and after publishing.
  • Advice and guidance on how to maximise sales – not just of your e-book but of your other products and services.
  • General support on issues relating to authorship.

Feature article

A common question that often comes up prior to publication is what classification to use for a book. Historically, for paper books, it was an issue of where to shelve the book and bookshops often got it wrong. Some still do!

It’s important to recognise that this is not some academic exercise in book classification but an attempt to place the book where most readers will find it. So, the category “health and personal development” might be a candidate for a book on improving personal productivity in terms of time management and other techniques even though “time management” comes under “business”.

If you’d like to browse the classifications that are most widely used take a look at this link to the hierarchical list of BIC (Book Industry Communication) subject codes. It’s always a good idea to look at what competition is in the classification you are considering. For that I’d take a look at Amazon. Search on books and then expand the left-hand side panel.
